About Me
My practice focuses on sports injuries and degenerative changes of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. I aim to provide a world-class level of care to patients in the treatment of sporting injuries and osteoarthritis.
My Story
Born and reared in the Gaeltacht of West Cork, I completed my medical degree in University College Cork, graduating in 2014. I went on to complete my basic surgical training through RCSI, working in the Mercy University Hospital, Cork University Hospital, Kerry University Hospital, Galway University Hospital, The Mater Hospital, Dublin and Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. During this time I completed a Masters of Surgery in Orthopaedic Surgery through NUI Galway.
I moved to Wales in 2018 to continue my higher surgical training and worked in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Rhyl, Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, The Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant and in the Aneurin Bevan Healthboard in Newport. I obtained a Masters of Science in Sports & Exercise Medicine from the University of South Wales in January 2023 and completed my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons examination in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery in November that year. I joined the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council, UK and in July 2024 I began my surgical fellowship in upper and lower limb sports and reconstructive surgery in Sydney, Australia.
During my surgical training I had the privilege of being involved with a number of elite professional and semi-professional sports teams including Bristol Bears Rugby, Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey, Aberafon Rugby as well as with the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association and British Horse Racing.
MY career Goals
My Mission
To provide a world-class service of operative and non-operative management of sporting injuries and degenerative changes to patients in my locality.
My Vision
Technological advances have allowed us to be more accurate than ever in our surgical procedures. I believe that, where possible, one should strive for accuracy and precision in the execution of surgical interventions in an effort to provide bespoke and personalised care.
My Process
My patients are treated based on their personal and professional circumstances in a patient-centred model. I strive to focus on your expectations and desires for your recovery. I will treat you based on your clinical needs and not on your findings on imaging. I hope to build a practice known for shared goal setting between you and I in an effort to restore function and your quality of life.
